"THE FABLE TRUE" -- A new David Mallett project
The words of Henry David Thoreau's "The Maine Woods" with narration and instrumental music by David Mallett |
|
Henry David Thoreau visited Maine in 1846, 1853, and 1857 and wrote essays on his travels. These essays were compiled post-humously as The Maine Woods in 1864. For almost 150 years, Thoreau's words have given readers world-wide an indelible picture of the Maine wilderness experience.
Maine singer/songwriter David Mallett grew up in the Maine woods and his music reflects his close ties to the forests, fields, and villages of rural Maine.
Now in a new CD, Mallett reads his favorite passages from Thoreau's travels in Maine and provides an instrumental interpretation of those words. In an hour-long odyssey of spoken word and music, Mallett revisits Thoreau's impressions of lakes and fishing, moose and mountains, Indians and lumbermen in the Maine woods.
"The Fable True" is a must for any fan of Henry David Thoreau or David Mallett! Available in July 2007, the 150th. anniversary of Thoreau's final journey to Maine. |
